The neighbouring countries are the Oman Sultanate on its east, Saudi Arabia to the South, Qatar to the west and to the North, on the other side of the Persian Gulf, Iran.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-gmap su-responsive-media-yes\"><iframe width=\"680\" height=\"400\" src=\"\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=Dubai%2C+UAE&amp;output=embed\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Population:<br \/>\nAs a genuine rainbow country, Dubai has only a small minority of natives. 80% of the population is made up of expatriates. The city has 1,2 million of inhabitants and this number is constantly growing.<\/p>\n<p>Religion:<br \/>\nThe Arab population is most obviously Muslim. The foreign communities represent the other principal religions.<\/p>\n<p>Climate:<br \/>\nHot and humid. Rain is rare and irregular.<\/p>\n<p>The best period stretch from October to May, with temperatures ranging from 24\u00b0 to 34\u00b0C during daytime.<\/p>\n<p>The summer months must absolutely be avoided (June, July and August), during this period the thermometer spiral out of control and can reach 50\u00b0C!<\/p>\n[wpc-weather id=&#8221;634&#8243;\/]\n<p>Language:<br \/>\nThe official language is Arabic, but English is fluently spoken.<\/p>\n<p>National Day:<br \/>\n2nd of December<\/p>\n<p>Time differences:<br \/>\nGMT +3 hours in summer<br \/>\nGMT +4 hours in winter<\/p>\n<p>How to get there:<br \/>\nThe international airport of Dubai (code DXD) is easily accessible from almost all regions in the world; it is served by more than 100 airline companies!<\/p>\n<p>Passport\/ Visa:<br \/>\nFor European, Swiss or Canadian citizens holding a valid passport at least 6 months after the date of issue, a visa is delivered freely at the airport for a duration of 60 days.<\/p>\n<p>Vaccination:<br \/>\nNo vaccine is required.<\/p>\n<p>Money:<br \/>\nThe local money is the dirham of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is index-linked to the Dollar.<br \/>\n1 US $ = 3,67 Dirham<br \/>\n1 Euro = approx 4,9 dirham<br \/>\n1 Swiss Franc = approx 3 dirham<br \/>\n1 \u00a3 = 7,2 dirham<br \/>\nCredit cards are accepted almost everywhere. Cash points (Automated Telling Machines) are numerous.<\/p>\n<p>Electric Power:<br \/>\n220 volts<\/p>\n<p>Clothes:<br \/>\nAvoid clothes that are too revealing in the city. Respect the Islamic traditions especially during the Ramadan period. Even if the women are not under the pressure of wearing the veil, they have to adopt appropriate clothing.<\/p>\n<p>Habits and customs:<br \/>\nDuring the Ramadan, eating, drinking or smoking in public during the day is an offence risking jail or a fine.<\/p>\n<p>Security:<br \/>\nA peace haven! The criminality rate is among the lowest in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Road Traffic:<br \/>\nThe road network is excellent, but the traffic is quite dangerous due to the careless driving of many.\u00a0 Driving is on the right-hand side of the road.<\/p>\n<p>Shopping:<br \/>\nBargaining is a common and familiar practice in souks but not in the big commercial centres. All shopping are duty-free.<\/p>\n<p>Visits and excursions:<br \/>\nNumerous circuit choices are present to discover the town, the<br \/>\ndesert, mountains and neighbouring Emirates.
